Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender literally means "to be washed". It is a very universal essential oil that balances the mind and body. It helps calm anxieties and stress. Studies have shown that being exposed to lavender for at least 5 minutes, helps reduce the release of cortisol which is a stress hormone put out by the adrenals. It is also great for healing cuts or abrasions. A French chemist named Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, learned of the power of essential oils when he burned his hand in his laboratory and immersed it in Lavender oil. He was impressed with how quickly it healed. Lavender is the most widely used essential oil in households and days spas because it is so versatile. It is no wonder why many bath products use lavender as a key ingredient.
