The Present Moment Through Meditation
Eckhart Tolle states in his book The Power of Now,"The present moment holds the key to liberation". He calls this the "no mind" state. This is why meditation is so important. We are consciously becoming part of the present moment...
Deepak Chopra describes a simple daily meditation:
"Sit quietly with your eyes closed in a room with the lights low and no distractions from the telephone or knocks at the door. Shut your eyes for a few minutes; then become aware of your breathing. Let your attention follow your breathe as it gently, naturally draws inward. Do the same as the breathe flows outward. Don't make any attempt to breathe with a certain rhythm and don't attempt to make your breathe deep or shallow." Chopra recommends following this meditation 10 to 20 minutes a day.
